Colonel Keir D. Knapp is the Vice Commander, 110th Attack Wing, W.K. Kellogg Air National Guard Base, Battle Creek, Michigan. He is Commander of approximately 1,000 personnel where his responsibilities include oversight of four groups and several tenant units. The groups include an Operations Group, Mission Support Group, Medical Group, and an Air Operations Group. The tenant units include the Defense Logistics Agency, STARBASE, AAFES, Michigan State Police, and the Merit Network. The 110th Attack Wing has 220 full-time technicians and Active Guard Reservists; drill status manning is 646 personnel.

Colonel Knapp is a 1988 graduate of the University of Illinois and entered the Air Force after receiving his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He served 10 years on active duty and now more than 17 years in the Air National Guard. His previous assignments include: Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma; A-10 Flight Training at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona; A-10 Aircraft Commander and Squadron Safety Officer at England Air Force Base, Alexandria, Louisiana. Multiple positions at Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, South Carolina, including Instructor Pilot, Plans officer, Chief of Training, Chief of Scheduling, and Chief of Stan/Eval. His next assignment was back to Davis-Monthan AFB as a Flight Commander and A-10 FTU Instructor and Evaluator Pilot. After leaving the active duty in July of 1998 he became a 1st Officer flying for Continental Airlines until being furloughed after September 11, 2001. He is currently on military leave from United Airlines. Colonel Knapp joined the Michigan Air National Guard at W.K. Kellogg Air National Guard Base, Battle Creek, Michigan in 1998. He became a full time Technician in the Michigan Air National Guard in December of 1999. He has held numerous positions including Instructor Pilot, Evaluator Pilot, Chief of Stan/Eval, Chief of Scheduling, Flight Commander, Assistant Director of Operations (ADO), Director of Operations (DO), Chief of Wing Safety, 172nd Fighter Squadron Commander, and 110th Operations Group Commander. Col Knapp has nearly 3900 hours in the T-37, T-38, A-10A, A-10C, and C-21; with over 3200 hours in the A-10. He has deployed 6 times to Southwest Asia and has flown 96 combat sorties over Iraq and Afghanistan.
