Team Battle Creek, Welcome to June RSD! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and holiday weekend. We had several teams involved with local community gatherings, including our awesome Honor Guard and Color Guard teams, where they explained and demonstrated the importance of paying tribute to the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation. If you are available in the future, I highly recommend participating in these events, the experience is extremely rewarding.

Team Battle Creek, I hope you enjoyed a nice break between RSDs and had some time for spring break or to get together with your family and friends. April drill is busy as always and we have our Wing Dining Out/Military Ball at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo on Saturday night. The Dining Out/Military Ball starts at 1800 with the program/events beginning at 1830. The event is designed to build comradery and esprit de corps and should be a lot of fun. In addition, we will pay special tribute to our great Airmen who have deployed or mobilized over the past 18 months. We have an excellent guest speaker for the event, a true friend of the 110th, Maj Gen (Ret) Eric Vollmecke. Look forward to seeing you at the Air Zoo.

Spring has sprung. The weather has turned to warm and sunny, drawing more people outside. The activities we take part in this time of year have an increased chance of injury. Our people are our most valuable asset and without you we cannot perform our missions. We all need to think before we act, and then act in a safe manner. The Air Force Safety Center has a “Check 3” initiative: 1. Always have the right gear. 2. Plan the activity. 3. Ensure you have the proper skills for the activity. Common areas of concern include; 2-wheeled vehicles, pedestrians, don’t drink and drive, fire and fireworks, staying hydrated, overexposure to sun, and sports injuries. Please take appropriate precautions and take care of yourself so that you can continue to contribute to both family and service commitments.
