Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Mich. --

110th Team,

By the time you read this article our new Wing mobile App will be live.  Please keep in mind that the App will be a continual work in progress as we strive to improve functionality and communication flow throughout the Wing.  Currently, the App is available for free for both Android and Apple devices using an App Store of your choice.  The new mobile App will include current Wing events, the current RSD schedule, push notifications, directory/contact info, history, virtual town hall updates, and much more.  As a result of our new App, some of the information that you would normally find on our website will now be located on the App.  Our PA team did a phenomenal job with this project, please thank them and provide feedback to make this product more useful for our Airmen.

Based on your feedback from key survey results (eg. DEOCS) and other forums (eg. Strat Planning, Town halls), you will see a completely new RSD Schedule starting this month.  The new RSD schedule will be more strategic in nature and content, allowing individual groups/squadrons to build their own schedule to maximize readiness.  In fact, the new schedule allows for a minimum of 50% dedicated AFSC/mission execution time while still balancing professional development, support services, and other miscellaneous drill activity.  AFSC training is the critical activity that we need to focus on in order to improve readiness.  Therefore,  our drill weekend activity should be structured around that principle.  Similar to the Wing mobile App, we will make future adjustments to the schedule as we strive to improve the quality of our RSDs.

In addition to the MSG change of command and retirement ceremony for Col Oswald, Family Support is hosting our annual Family Day at Binder Park Zoo.  Families are encouraged to arrive early and Wing personnel will be released starting at 1500 to attend the Family Day event.  The event will be a lot of fun and it will give us a chance to recognize our families for all they do to support our mission.

I know this has been mentioned previously, but I will continue to push the message.  On 30 Jun (Friday), the base is hosting an Open House, decoration presentation, and retiree event.  We are opening the base to the public from 1100-1500, which will give us an opportunity to further our community partnership while presenting our missions and elite Airmen.  Following the Open House, we will host a decoration presentation and a retiree event immediately to follow.  Please bring your family and friends (and potential recruits) to our Open House, this will certainly be a historic and awesome event!

Last, but certainly not least, our MQ-9 Operations Group will be returning home after a 2 month period of being forward deployed to March ARB and Creech AFB.  We will stand-up at home (again!) the week after drill.  Please welcome everyone back home.

As a reminder, July is a non-mandatory RSD.  For those that need to drill in July, RSD is scheduled for 8-9 July.  Please work individual scheduling needs with your supervisor and squadron commander.

My best to you and your family!
