Major General Paul Rogers, Commander of Michigan National Guard, arrived in Latvia for a several-day working visit this week to discuss defense cooperation between Latvia and the United States, as well as topical issues of international and regional security, with Defense Minister Artis Pabriks and Commander of the National Armed Forces. During the visit, Major General Roger took part in the ceremonial flower-laying ceremony at the Riga Brethren Cemetery and attended the Ministry of Defense, the National Armed Forces Joint Headquarters, as well as the Adazi Base and the National Armed Forces Air Base. Major General Roger took up the position of Commander of Michigan National Guard on January 1, replacing former Commander Major General Gregory Vadnay. April 27 will mark the 26th year since Latvia and Michigan National Guard have joined the partnership program. The first objectives of the program were to help Latvia to develop the National Armed Forces, especially the National Guard, after regaining independence. In the initial co-operation phase, the Michigan National Guard contributed to the establishment of the National Guard structure by developing training programs, inviting national guards to gain experience in military training in the United States Photo By: Armīns Janiks, AM https://flic.kr/p/2e6sni6
